The rammed earth house designated for the headquarters of Hailey Hills is located adjacent to Seoul Forest one of the best parks in Seoul. This area boasts the abundant greenery of Seoul Forest Park, which embraces both the Han River and the surrounding woodland, alongside the vibrant fashion and youthful culture of Seongsu-dong. With plans to convert the rammed earth house into an office, there was significant demand for curtain wall systems even at the initial stages of renovation and expansion design. To transcend the structural limitations of the rammed earth construction, transitioning the entire structure to a steel frame posed a considerable challenge. The process of removing all walls and the existing slabs of the house exhibited a high degree of construction difficulty, necessitating meticulous structural design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to optimize views and natural lighting directed toward the generously spaced Seoul Forest Park to the south, wide openings were incorporated, fostering active communication with the adjacent road. The circulation system of the existing building was entirely revamped, adjusting entrances to facilitate access between the basement and the first floor. The sleek and lightweight design of the steel staircase provides a natural flow, reminiscent of an alleyway, spanning from the first to the fourth floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The top floor, designated as the expansion space, features a high ceiling and offers an exceptional view overlooking Seoul Forest. The vista encompasses not only the park but also the distant skyline of Seoul, creating a remarkable visual experience. The warm sunlight streaming in from the south and the lush greenery of Seoul Forest cast shadows of swaying leaves throughout the interior, evoking a tranquil ambiance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Considering the importance of visual presentation for the Hailey Hills headquarters, the interior was finished in white to enhance photographic opportunities, while the exterior features textured bright materials such as brick tiles and metal sheets to create a cohesive atmosphere. Triple-glazed low-emissivity glass windows with aluminum frames were selected to balance design aesthetics with functionality. The dark brown roof and flashings harmonize with the bright exterior walls, contributing to a soft overall appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Post-completion, the spatial design was conceptualized to serve as a backdrop for numerous props and images, maximizing storage within the given space to ensure ample exhibition areas for a variety of activities, even on a relatively small site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
