The South Garden<\/strong>, located in Namyangju, represents a dream space for urbanites seeking a \u201cKinfolk Life.\u201d It embodies the architectural vision of homeowners who desire to occasionally slow the pace of their busy lives and share a simple lifestyle immersed in nature with close family and friends, particularly as they enjoy greater leisure time in retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The garden space in Namyangju emerges as a new community area that meets the demands of two generations. The architect couple, who are a film and documentary director and a painter, aspire to blend their hectic urban routines with a serene life in nature. Situated within an hour\u2019s journey, The South Garden<\/strong> serves as both a garden and a multifunctional studio house for the architect’s family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior space, featuring a high sloped ceiling of 6 meters and an extended area opening onto a sunlit southern garden, becomes a versatile venue capable of hosting various events. A mature zelkova tree, which has established its presence on the site for many years, serves as a reference point for the layout of the house. The outdoor spaces planned around this zelkova tree are integrated with the kitchen, dining area, and living room, facilitating a range of outdoor activities. The tree filters harsh sunlight, transforming the ambiance of the space with the changing seasons, and becomes a backdrop for many cherished memories at The South Garden Studio House<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South Garden<\/strong> is designed to encompass four distinct gardens, each reflecting the tastes of the retired parents who have studied art. These gardens will be gradually developed over time. Just as trees gradually establish their roots and flourish with branches and leaves, the gardens will develop their unique narratives through the seasons, maturing into a cohesive whole.
